Few artists have turned personal history into a house movement quite like Juliana X. With roots that span continents and cultures, she has become one of the most vital new voices in electronic music. Born in Poços de Caldas, Brazil and raised in the quiet fields of Wijnjewoude, Juliana relocated to Rotterdam in 2020 to fully pursue her artistic career. Since then, she has built a reputation for her magnetic presence, raw sound, and cultural vision. Defining her as both a DJ and a creative force.
Before moving to Rotterdam, Juliana began pushing the northern Dutch underground. As a club organizer and DJ in Leeuwarden’s LGBTQI+ house and techno scene, she built inclusive spaces where freedom and identity collided on the dancefloor. This community work evolved into Kult Funktion. A professional Rotterdam-based foundation and creative platform empowering underrepresented voices in electronic music particularly LGBTQI+, BIPOC, and women artists. Through its Academy, community, and club nights, Kult Funktion bridges education, nightlife, and social impact within the electronic music landscape.
Her sound merges gritty basslines, acid-infused layers and hip-hop energy, elevated by ghetto vocals and diva acapellas. It’s nostalgic yet forward-facing underground, but deeply emotional. Rooted in her Afro-Brazilian and Nigerian heritage, Juliana weaves the rhythmic essence of her roots into every performance, blending ancestral groove with modern club sensibility. Whether commanding a festival mainstage or an intimate basement, she elevates each set into a space of freedom, unity and release.
On October 24th, 2025, Juliana X will once again stand beside Honey Dijon. This time as the official support act for the world premiere of PRAISE with the ZO! Gospel Choir, staged within the hallowed walls of Amsterdam’s Nieuwe Kerk. Curated by Audio Obscura as the most exclusive performance of this year’s Amsterdam Dance Event, the evening unites fashion, faith, and the future of house beneath one vaulted ceiling. For Juliana, it marks a rare return. An elegant circle closing since her breakout at Honey Dijon’s House Nation during ADE 2024, staged within the industrial cathedral of the G-Star RAW Factory.
From DGTL and Onder De Radar to Shelter, Lo-Fi, Paradiso, Melkweg, and her own Kult Funktion nights in BRET, Juliana X turns every space into a dialogue between rhythm and spirit. Her music moves with gratitude. A vibration of love for the culture that raised her and the people who keep that spirit alive.
