BIO
Few artists have turned personal history into a house movement quite like Juliana X. With roots that span continents and cultures, she has become one of the new generation of artists shaping contemporary electronic music. Born in Poços de Caldas, Brazil and raised in the quiet fields of Wijnjewoude, Juliana relocated to Rotterdam in 2020 to fully pursue her artistic career. Since then, she has built a reputation for her magnetic presence, raw sound and cultural vision, establishing her as both a DJ and a cultural force.
Before moving to Rotterdam, Juliana began pushing the northern Dutch underground. As a club organizer and DJ in Leeuwarden’s LGBTQI+ house and techno scene, she built inclusive spaces where freedom and identity collided on the dancefloor. This work eventually evolved into Kult Funktion, a Rotterdam-based cultural platform and foundation empowering underrepresented voices in electronic music, particularly LGBTQI+, BIPOC and women artists.
Her sound merges gritty basslines, acid-infused layers and hip-hop energy, elevated by ghetto vocals and diva acapellas. It’s nostalgic yet forward-facing underground, but deeply emotional. Rooted in her Afro-Brazilian and Nigerian heritage, Juliana weaves the rhythmic essence of her roots into every performance, blending ancestral groove with modern club sensibility. Whether commanding a festival mainstage or an intimate basement, she elevates each set into a space of freedom, unity and release.
2026 marks another defining chapter in Juliana X's journey, with debut appearances at Awakenings Upclose and Lowlands Festival, alongside performances for Audio Obscura at Rotterdam's iconic Van Nelle Fabriek. Together, these milestones reflect an artist continuing to carve out a lane of her own within contemporary electronic music.
Recent years have seen Juliana move through a series of defining moments within the orbit of global house music pioneer Honey Dijon, from House Nation and PRAISE to a Berghain debut for Jack Your Body. A trajectory that places her within a new wave of artists carrying house culture forward while staying rooted in the spirit that built it.
Beyond the booth, Juliana is the driving force behind Kult Funktion, a Rotterdam-based platform working across nightlife, talent development and cultural exchange. Through club nights, educational programmes and creative networks, she creates new pathways for emerging artists while strengthening the connection between house culture, community and contemporary nightlife.
From DGTL, Shelter, Lo-Fi, Paradiso and Melkweg to BRET, MADAM, Wereldmuseum Rotterdam and her own Kult Funktion productions, Juliana brings the same energy to every stage: warm, soulful and unapologetically dancefloor-driven. Whether playing a warehouse, festival, museum or club, her sets are guided by one principle: honour the roots, trust the groove and bring people together.
